Dr. Hadi Salavitabar named Chairman of Ulster Savings Bank Board of Trustees
KINGSTON, NY (January 20, 2017) — The Board of Trustees of Ulster Savings Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Hadi Salavitabar as its new Chairman.
Dr. Salavitabar, who has held numerous leadership roles and participated in several committees during his nearly 12 years as a Bank trustee, serves as the Executive in Residence at the University At Albany – State University of New York. His long career in academia has included over 31 years (1982 – 2013) at the State University of New York at New Paltz, where he ascended through a number of leadership roles within the university’s business administration department, ultimately becoming the Founding and first Dean of the newly-established School of Business, a position he held until June 2013. From July 2013 to September 2015, Dr. Salavitabar served as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.
A published author with primary research interests in the areas of finance, business strategy, and statistics, Dr. Salavitabar has received multiple awards and designations during his career. These include the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in (1991), Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award by the Alumni Association of SUNY New Paltz (2001) and induction into the SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame (2013). He was also the founder and advisor of the Financial Management Association (FMA) – New Paltz Chapter. Under his guidance, the FMA – New Paltz Chapter was the recipient of the International FMA’s Superior or Outstanding Honor Awards for six (6) consecutive years.
In addition to his service on the Ulster Savings Bank Board of Trustees, Dr. Salavitabar’s community involvement has included service on the boards of numerous educational, human services and economic development organizations in the Mid-Hudson Valley and Capital District areas. At the national level, he served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Middle Atlantic Association of Colleges of Business Administration (MAACBA). At the international level, he has been elected to serve on the Business Advisory Board of the University of New York in Prague (UNYP), Czech Republic.
Dr. Salavitabar resides in Slingerlands with his wife, Nezhat.
